Reach is not growth: the 5 numbers that actually matter

Short answer: Vanity metrics feel good and mean little. Track these five numbers instead — the ones that show whether real people actually care about your post.

A post can reach a million people and grow your account by twelve followers. Reach measures exposure; growth is what remains afterwards. The five numbers Virello's Analytics agent prioritizes are engagement rate, profile-visit conversion, follower growth per post, cost per 1,000 reached (for boosts), and returning-viewer share.

Engagement rate tells you whether the right people saw it. Profile visits tell you whether they cared. Follower growth per post tells you whether the content earned a long-term place in someone's feed.

When those three rise together, reach becomes a bonus. When they don't, no amount of reach will save the strategy — change the content, not the budget.
